Too Hot to Handle?

So it’s hot. Yes, even here in the desert. I can only imagine what it must be like in the humidity of the Midwest where all of you lovely people are. So what’s some fun ideas to stay cool? Besides jumping in a pool or cold shower? Here’s what we’ve been trying:

Instead of hot coffee…Iced Coffee.
Just put in the same amount of beans, but only fill with half the amount of water. Pour the very strong, black coffee over ice. This makes the perfect non-watery cup of coffee. Add milk/sugar or cream to taste.

Rubbing ice over inner wrist. Read this tip in Real Simple (thanks for this subscription Brande!) Sounds weird, feels great.

Make popsicles out of Crystal Light or juice. We love the green tea peach mango Crystal Light. Even the drink itself over ice is refreshing!

Frozen grapes- classic.

Trader Joe’s Frozen Yogurt (top with fresh berries) or Trader Joe’s Mango Sorbet.

And what we just tried today—Banana Sorbet. I had some reservations, but OH MY IT IS GOOD!
How to: 2 Frozen bananas (I recommend pealing before freezing if possible), ½ cup greek yogurt, ¼ cup milk, 1 tbsp peanut butter or chocolate syrup if desired. I have never had such a delicious and smooooooth treat.

In order to save some $$ on blasting the AC, we even hit up my new favorite coffee shop: Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. The best Iced Vanilla Latte I have ever had. And hey, we didn’t have internet for the first week, so it worked out well.

I would be posting some pictures of our new place, but we’re currently re-painting and glossing the table chairs, and making seat cushions, and putting shelves up…yea still settling in. But it is becoming home. Went to a great church today called Trinity EV Free. Imagine this: instead of an indoor lobby/atrium, this church had it all outside. All the welcome tables and informational booths were outside. What a cool place to mingle. We’ll be heading into our last free week before work and school picks up…whats a couple to do?? Head to the BEACHES! We’re hoping to meet up with one of Andrew’s high school friends and wife in Los Angeles. His friend works for The Tonight Show (Jay Leno).  Then later in the week, hopefully San Diego for some gorgeous beaches we’ve been hearing about. I will be doing my best to convince Andrew to try some surfing! We miss you guys already. Hope you all are doing well. We’ll be chill this week so feel free to call to chat! Love love love! xoxoxo

Address Changes

This certainly is a summer of address changes and great experiences for all of you!!  It started with the Hubbards in Grayslake, IL to the Schiller's in Kewadin, MI and now the Evelsizer's in Loma Linda, CA. It will finish with Jenna heading back to Judson U from White Lake, WI.  These months have gone by like a whirlwind, but is so wonderful to see God's providence and hand in it all. He does provide us with what we need and knows the desires of our hearts. May we always rely on His timing and not our own!!
So what lessons have I been learning?  Change will be constant, letting go can feel good and hurt at the same time, I am not in control, and God has it all taken care of!!! :)  Know that no matter what your address is or where you are, you are always close to my heart.
Blessings and love, Momma

Hello from CALI!!!

Hi Family!!
We are here and are loving it!! Probably more so now that we know I have a job!!! What an incredible blessing that God has given us. I am so overwhelmed by how God has taken care of us, and we both agree that we feel like we are exactly where God wants us! I'll be working 7p-7a on the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology ICU unit. I timed the bike ride today from our apartment to the entrance and it is an 8 min ride. Much better than my 30-35 min drive to Gilman. Ah, so nice. Continue to pray for His guidance as we settle in and then start a new job and school! We'll be spending the next few days running errands and such. We love our apartment....especially the POOL! Can't complain about the heat when we have a pool to jump into at the first sign of temperatures above 100 degrees. It's hot, yes, but NOT HUMID. My hair is happy :) Also loving the backdrop of mountains every direction we see. So....we wanna hear about YOU GUYS! If you don't know how, we can help. I know Mark and Brande don't have internet, so they're excused. Talk to you soon!

The FIRST post on the Family Blog

SO....on the day before the big move, we decided that we needed a better and easier way to stay connected over the hundreds of miles that seperate us. Post on this blog to show pictures of cute babies (or puppies/alpacas), homes, and fun activities. Update the fam on what's been going on! So with the E's....we are about 12 hours away from driving out of our first apartment. The truck is loaded down and we are very excited. We've been contemplating the move and are viewing it as more of a 'see you all later' than a goodbye. Andrew starts school August 4th. Kate has an interview this coming Monday for a Pediatric Hematology and Oncology ICU at Loma Linda. Pray pray pray as we enter this time of transition and new opportunities. Thank you so so so much Dad (for packing AND driving out with us), Mom, Lindsay, and Levi for helping us move out! We are so blessed by our wonderful family! We will miss being able to see you on a more regular basis, but you can count on us being back for visits as often as we can.
Love, The Evelsizer's
